American Sign Language Santa Cruz was started by Julius Satterlee. Julius is a hearing child of deaf adults, known in the deaf community as a (CODA).
"My goal with American Sign Language Santa Cruz is to give back to the deaf community, after many years of being able to make a living providing services to the deaf, I feel it's time to give back. I started the "Deaf ASLSC Bonfire", in the summer of 2010. I wanted to take advantage of the beach atmosphere and find a way to bring deaf and sign language users together". - Julius Satterlee
